MES SUMMER READING
Dear MES Families,
Here at MES, we know it is so important for our students to keep their reading and writing skills sharp over the summer. One of the best ways to do this is to ensure students continue to read and organize their thoughts during the summer months. Below, we have outlined the activities for grades 1-5 and 6-8. Please note that the activities for grades 1-5 are strongly encouraged; however, the completion of the assignment for grades 6-8 is required.
Grades 1 - 5:
- All students entering grades 1 through 5 are encouraged to participate in summer enrichment activities to support and continue this school year's learning and progress. Enrichment resources are available in the link below.

Grades 6 - 8:
- Please ensure that your child completes this assignment by the first day of school, as their work will be used as part of opening activities for the language arts classes. Our middle school staff has designed a summer reading assignment that will be required for all students entering grades 6-8 in the fall. This assignment is detailed below.
