Honors Placement Testing for Incoming Freshmen
Register Online for Humanities & Science Placement Tests
Manasquan High School is proud to offer 8th grade students the opportunity to take honors courses as freshman in English, Social Studies, and Biological Science.
In order for students to enroll in these courses, they must successfully complete their 8th grade courses and earn a qualifying score on the Honors Placement Test, given at Manasquan High School.
Two separate honors tests will be administered; Humanities (for Honors English and Social Studies) and Science (for Honors Biology, please note: all students registering for Honors Biology must have completed Algebra I, prior to enrollment in the course). These tests allow students to demonstrate their knowledge of content and skills in their respective subject areas and models the rigor and overall expectations of our honors-level course.
Once the test is scored, students will receive a recommendation as to the best placement for their academic success. Should a student not meet the qualifying test score for honors placement, the student/parent will have the opportunity to consult with the Freshman Guidance Counselor and be given the opportunity to “waive into” the honors course pending approval from the department supervisor and verified by a completed Waiver Form. (Please note: students will not be given the opportunity to “waive” into a course, if they did not sit for the placement test.)
The Honors Placement Tests will be given at Manasquan High School in the Media Center on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. The Humanities Placement Test will be given from 9:00am-11:00am. Students who are only taking the Humanities Placement Test can be picked up at this time. For students staying for the Honors Biology Placement Test, we will have a short break (with snacks) from 11:00am-11:30am. The Honors Biology Placement Test will be given from 11:30am-1:00pm.
Students/Parents MUST PRE-REGISTER online for the test using the link below.
