Not a stranger to teaching, Mrs. Crowning taught previously at Wall High School, Sea Girt Elementary School and Monmouth County Transitional Education Center. She continues to teach botany and gardening courses for the NJ Garden Club and Ocean County Master Gardeners, and is a popular guest speaker for local garden clubs.  Mrs. Crowning has conducted several successful SOAR projects at MHS in the areas of Forensic Science and Photography.

 

Before teaching Mrs. Crowning worked as a Horticulturist for the Thompson and Morgan Seed Company and was a Horticultural Consultant for the Rutgers Cooperative Extension (RCE) of Ocean County and coordinated their Master Gardener Program.  She acted as a consultant work for RCE of Monmouth County in their water quality testing programs, and continues her love of gardening as an independent Horticultural Consultant for local homeowners and businesses .  She and co-teacher Tom Glenn conduct a science camp for 5th, 6th and 7th grade students every summer with topics in CSI, Survior Island, Superhero Chemistry and Engineering Challenges.

 

Mrs. Crowning received the Governor's Teacher Recognition Award for Teacher of the Year in 2006. 

 

Mrs. Crowning acts as adviser for the MHS Academic Team and co-advises the Class of 2021.
