    Mr. Freda has been teaching at MHS for 41 years. In 1990 he was one of two teachers in the state selected for the Christa McAuliffe Fellowship Grant from the NJ Dept of Education. Also in 1990 he was one of 30 teachers in the US selected for the National Leadership Institute for Physics by Rutgers University and AT&T Bell Labs. Mr. Freda was the Manasquan District Teacher of the Year in 1993. In 1995 he was selected as the District nominee as a Tandy Technology Scholar as an Outstanding Science teacher and the District nominee for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching.
     
    Mr. Freda takes an active role in the NJ Science League, Project SOAR, and is the advisor for The Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Fishing Club. He is also a mentor teacher for the HS.
     

    An avid fisherman, Mr. Freda is a professional USCG charter captain, author, and nationally recognized outdoor writer. His first book "Fishing the NJ Coast" was awarded the "New Jersey Center for the Book Award" as one of the most notable NJ books. He is also a co-author of Saltwater Fishing, A Tactical Approach. Nationally he writes for Saltwater Sportsman Magazine, Fly Fisherman Magazine, Bg Game Journal, The Fisherman Magazine, and On The Water Magazine. He also writes a saltwater fishing column for The Bergen Record, Asbury Park Press, Coast Star and Ocean Star Newspapers. In the summer he serves as the Sea Girt Beach Manager.
