    Dear Manasquan Special Education Community,

I am Jennifer Steffich, and it is my distinct honor to be appointed as your new Director of Special Services for Manasquan Public Schools effective July 1, 2022. Since my appointment at the May Board of Education meeting I have had the opportunity to meet members of the parent and school community, and I sincerely thank you for the warm welcome. Each interaction I have uncovers a new element of what makes Manasquan so unique and my excitement to join the Manasquan School Community grows with each passing day.

So, who is Jennifer Steffich?  I am an experienced and dedicated advocate for students who discovered my passion for working in the field of Special Education as a teenager when I was asked to volunteer in a kindergarten class of children with multiple disabilities. I instantly fell in love with the students I worked with and knew from that moment that Special Education would be the career pathway I would pursue.

My professional background includes serving children ages 3-21 in the following roles: a Special Education teacher at the elementary and secondary level, a long standing member of the Child Study Team as an LDT-C, and as a Supervisor of Special Education for the past 8 years. All of these experiences have led me to Manasquan where I will begin the next chapter in my career as a Director of Special Services.

What can you expect of me as a Director?  First, I will be visible.  Students, teachers, and families will see me regularly and know who I am. As Director I plan to learn about all of the special education programs and services offered in Manasquan and utilize the observed strengths of the Special Education department to support and develop any areas that have room to grow.

I am excited to bring my 23 years of experience with me to Manasquan and look forward to beginning the next chapter of my career in a district dedicated to educational excellence. Thank you again for the warm welcome and I look forward to continuing to meet all of the amazing members of the Manasquan community.
