• Philosophy of Visual Arts

Every child in grades 9 - 12 should have the benefit of a sequential art education which incorporates experiences in art production, art history, art criticism and analysis, and aesthetics. The program will teach children how to use both verbal and non-verbal symbols to communicate their thoughts and feelings more effectively and to analyze and understand messages communicated to them. It will promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-discipline, which can be applied to other subject areas and can facilitate success in the workforce.

In addition, the arts program will provide a means through which children can gain knowledge about the world in which they live, various cultures, and an understanding and appreciation of past civilizations. It will nurture intellectual and imaginative growth and instill important human values, increase self-awareness and self-esteem, as well as enhance the quality of life in the school and community.
