The Manasquan School District’s vision for Curriculum and Instruction is grounded in a commitment to high-quality, coherent learning experiences that promote academic excellence, equity, and readiness for future success for all students from PreK through grade 12. Guided by the district’s strategic goals, curriculum and instruction prioritize strong instructional practices, meaningful assessment, and continuous improvement to support increased student achievement and overall proficiency. At the elementary level, this vision focuses on strengthening foundational skills, improving instructional effectiveness, and fostering a culture of learning that supports progress. At the high school level, it emphasizes rigorous, globally focused opportunities, including the continued growth and accessibility of the International Baccalaureate Program, to ensure students are prepared for college, careers, and life beyond graduation. Across all grade levels, curriculum and instruction are supported by thoughtful use of technology, strong initiatives, and well-maintained learning environments that together create engaging, responsive, and future-ready educational experiences.

The Manasquan School District uses a balanced system of assessments to understand student learning, guide instruction, and ensure programs meet the needs of all learners. Teachers and administrators use classroom-based assessments alongside district and state measures to monitor progress, provide meaningful feedback, and continuously improve instruction. State and federally required assessments include the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment – Adaptive (NJSLA-Adaptive) for English Language Arts and Mathematics, as well as the NJSLA for Science. At the secondary level, students may participate in Advanced Placement (AP) exams, International Baccalaureate (IB) assessments, and the New Jersey Seal of Biliteracy to demonstrate advanced academic and language skills. In the early grades, the district administers mathematics and reading diagnostic assessments, along with a dyslexia screener, to support early identification and targeted intervention. Collectively, these assessments are used to identify strengths, address areas of need, and ensure that every student receives the academic support and opportunities necessary to progress confidently through their educational journey.

From building strong foundations in the elementary grades to offering rigorous and globally focused opportunities at the high school, including the International Baccalaureate Program, Manasquan’s curriculum is designed to help every student learn, grow, and succeed.
