• Welcome to the New Manasquan Elementary School Grades 5-8 Principal, Ms. Megan Manetta

sent via Email to the Manasquan Elementary School Community, June 30, 2020

As we now work to prepare for our in-person graduations and begin to make plans for our re-opening in September, I’m pleased to write you with some important news about the administrative structure in our Elementary School.

In the wake of Mr. Kirk’s well-deserved retirement after 39 years in the education and 36 in our district, I approached the Board of Education with a new structure for the administration of our elementary school.  While I truly believe a Pre K through 8th grade building is an important hallmark of our community school, I felt the building could benefit from two educational leaders to focus exclusively on the two different age groups of our students, namely, Pre K through 4th grade and 5th grade through 8th grade.

In our new structure, Mrs. Graziano will serve as the Principal for Grades PreK through 4th.  We then posted a job opening for a 5th grade through 8th grade Principal.  We received over 100 applications for the position and interviewed 27 different qualified candidates.  After a thorough process of multiple levels of interviews with various administrators and Board members, I’m pleased to announce that yesterday morning the Board of Education appointed Ms. Megan Manetta as our 5th through 8th grade Principal.

Ms. Manetta has served as the principal of Murray A. Chittick Elementary School in the East Brunswick School District since July 2016.  Prior to this, she served as a 6th grade language arts and gifted and talented teacher as well as a English department chairperson in the East Brunswick School District.  Ms. Manetta has a bachelor’s degree in English education from Ithaca College and a master’s in English from SUNY Albany.

You will find a welcome letter from Ms. Manetta below.  Please join me in welcoming her to the Manasquan family!

    Yours in education,

    Dr. Kasyan Signature

    Frank Kasyan, Ed.D.

    Dear Manasquan Elementary,

I can’t tell you how pleased I am to be joining this community as your new principal for grades 5-8. This opportunity is especially important to me because, as a Manasquan resident, I share your desire to make our public schools the very best they can be. When my husband and I were looking for a town where we wanted to raise our daughter, Cecilia, we were drawn immediately to Manasquan. We know that this community is already special, and I look forward to working with the staff, students and parents to make our school a source of pride for my family and for yours.

I come to you with 16 years of prior experience in the field of education. I began my career as a 6th grade language arts and gifted and talented teacher. Once I decided to pursue administration, I served as a supervisor for the English department before accepting a position as an elementary principal. Each experience has been formative, and together they have provided me with a broad base of knowledge regarding curriculum, instruction, and leadership. I am thrilled to be bringing what I have learned to this new position, as well as to learning alongside you all as we seek continuous growth and look for opportunities for further development.

Thank you for welcoming me. I look forward to the opportunity to meet each of you in person, and to all that the future holds for me here at Manasquan Elementary. Be well, stay safe, and always keep learning!

    Sincerely,

    Megan Manetta
